Final Coursework grade: 82/100

Evaluation Feedback: 18/20

Excellent understanding in all areas. To develop I would suggest the use of theory for question 4 by linking it to the study we've done on web 2.0

Saturday 8 May 2010

Construction Grade: 33/40 + 7/10 + 6/10 = 46/60

Newspaper:
The newspaper has developed into a much more believable product. It follwos concentions but challenges at the same time to appeal to a younger audience. At the same time it still looks like quite a serious paper rather than being simply 'entertaining' - maybe that's a good thing but would it take off? There's still a little bit too much white space I think that would be fully utilised in a real paper for advertising. Overall I think it's worthy of a bottom level 4. 33/40

Website:
BETTER! Still would like the area to right developed- small pics maybe?
7/10

Poster: Like the use of GCSE work for this - looks good and appeals to the audience. Bit more work on colour and shadows etc would have raised grade.
6/10

Planning Grade: 18/20

www:
Excellent planning - research into similar products, drafting, organising, time management, organisation and presentation of work

ebi:
Can't see any sketches/planning for the poster - or explanation of the image (is it your own, borrowed, manipulated?)

Evaluation Proposal

My evaluation will be in the format of a blog. I have chosen to use a blog because I feel I have become more and more comfortable with this particular format and the skills I have developed over the course of my AS and A2 projects are best suited to a blog than any other format.

I will answer the following questions in my evaluation whilst referring to past examples of my own work as well as external sources of information in the form of videos and images to support my reasoning.

The questions I will be addressing in my evaluation are:
1.) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
2.) How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary texts?
3.) How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of your project?
4.) What have I learnt from my target audience feedback?

Ancillary Task: Teen Today Newspaper Poster Final Version

The original image of my poster was taken from my year 11 GCSE Art portfolio. The reason why I chose to use this image for my poster is because of its bold, loud and exuberant meaning which completely relates with the nature of my target audience. I edited the photo in the software programme 'Photo Shop' in order to add the text at the bottom of the poster.

Hi Jack

Hard work eh? I'm just checking through blogs tonight to check what's in. Maybe you can work on the idea for your poster this weekend and gather images ready to go on Monday? Just print screen your website for now for the blog and also publish it and save to student home.

Newspaper Audience Feedback

I have uploaded the following images onto the social networking website 'Facebook.com'. This is the ideal method to obtain direct feedback from my target audience as Facebook is extremely popular with teenagers of today.

Paper 'Language' Analysis Feedback

Good identification of conventions. To improve to higher levels, analysis of meaning for each is required. You have done this in some places but not enough for level 3/4 here.
